Interview With Author

Being a good manager means far, far more than just bossing others around and feeling high and mighty. It’s about leadership, support, empathy, and knowing how to truly motivate your staff to go the extra mile. However, good bosses are few and rare in between.
Redditor u/Dio_bean recently went viral on the r/MaliciousCompliance online group after sharing how his manager demanded that he deep clean the back of the restaurant and avoid going to the front at all costs. Well, he decided to follow the orders to the letter, but this backfired for the manager. Big time! Scroll down for the full story.
Bored Panda got in touch with the author of the post, redditor u/Dio_bean, and he was kind enough to answer our questions. Scroll down for our full interview with him.

Storytelling, journalism, and art are a core part of who I am. I've been writing and drawing ever since I could walk—there is nothing else I'd rather do. My formal education, however, is focused on politics, philosophy, and economics because I've always been curious about the gap between the ideal and the real.
At work, I'm a Senior Writer and I cover a broad range of topics that I'm passionate about: from psychology and changes in work culture to healthy living, relationships, and design.
In my spare time, I'm an avid hiker and reader, enjoy writing short stories, and love to doodle.
I thrive when I'm outdoors, going on small adventures in nature...

The tone this kid wrote this in makes me think there is more to the story. He is the one who sounds like a condescending person. I imagine this is the same attitude he has at work. Which would make me not want to work with him or have him work for me. According to him, he's perfect and everyone he works with is a prick. I hope he doesn't break his arm patting himself on the back.

If he's "the only one in his position" then what did they do during his "5 consecutive days off" after that day? 🤔

Ok there are a couple things here. First I have a hard time believing this. It sounds like one of those situations that after it is over you think about all the things you would have done and now inject that into the story that you are telling people. Second I hate when owners and managers exploit service industry workers, but if you are looking for a job that is “fair.” You need to pick another job. Even places that boast they pay a “living wage” are not fair. It is just the way it is. Third did he say at one point that he “didn’t want to be petty?” cuz ummmmm yeah whatever. Fourth being a príck because there is no one else to do your job is a real privileged outlook. Fifth you need to get with those servers, because not claiming tips is a bad idea in the long run. You may walk with some more cash, but if you ever want to finance anything, get a loan, etc it is going to look like you make no money. As much as you think that job sucks there are a lot of people that are in less fortunate situations that would kill for that job and would do it 10x better than you would. Again I am not condoning people that exploit their authority, but I’m feeling a lot of BS in this story. Also if you have everything taken care of already it looks like you picked what you thought was the easiest you could get, and this is a good reality check. Just leave, this kind of pageantry is obnoxious unless you want to have some story for our friends about how you raged against the machine. The entire story has a stink of pretension. Just sayin
