Graduate of McGill University and ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary. Rabbi Auerbach held pulpits at Shaar Shalom in Chomedy, Quebec, Ahavat Achim Synagogue in Atlanta and Beth David in Miami, before founding the Bet Shira Congregation in Pinecrest, where he was the Rabbi and spiritual leader until retirement in 2005 and continued as Rabbi Emeritus until his passing The recipient of many awards and recognitions, Rabbi Auerbach's community leadership included serving as the National Chairman of the Rabbinical Assembly Convention and on the Chancellor's Rabbinic Cabinet of The Jewish Theological Seminary as well as the South Dade Board of Rabbis, the Southeast Region of the Rabbinical Assembly and the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami. A respected scholar, Rabbi Auerbach lectured extensively on Rabbinics and Jewish Ethics at Bet Shira and Melton Adult Mini-School while his writings appeared in many leading Jewish publications throughout his distinguished career.

(416) 864-5000. -01339137 FENNELL, Joyce Cobb At the tender age of 92, Joyce died peacefully in her sleep at the West Island Palliative Care Residence, following a short illness and hospitalization. She was fortunate to have enjoyed excellent health throughout most of her life.

She had a full I times too full, such as when German bombs and rockets were falling on London during World War II, and she steadfastly held her own with a cooking pot on her head for protection. She fell in love and married husband and Canadian soldier, Gordon Fennell, after which she left her family and friends in London, England in order to accompany him to Canada as a war bride. She quickly immersed herself in Canadian affairs and became an active and contributing citizen in many ways, especially as a volunteer. In fact from the age of sixteen, volunteering to help those in need was a major influence in her life. She was blessed with many long-lasting friendships throughout Canada, but maintained a special place in her heart for Quebec and its people.

Starting in 1976 until earlier this year, she volunteered many hours for several sitting MNAs for the provincial Robert Baldwin riding. She leaves to mourn her husband of 71 years, Gordon Fennell; her son Keith of Port Hope, Ontario; son Leigh of Dollard-DesOrmeaux, Quebec; daughter-in-law Charlotte Fennell of Lindsay. He was one month shy of his 89th year and twenty-three days from his 62nd wedding anniversary to Josefina. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Peter (1988) and leaves behind his oldest son, Brian and his wife, Andrea, and granddaughters Jasmine and Tamara and their husbands, Scott and Josh. He will be greatly missed by his son, Gustavo and his only daughter, Ana Soraya. Ken came from a large family of brothers and sisters with many nieces and nephews. He was the patriarch of the Fitzwilliam clan and was loved and respected by his family and friends.

Ken left Trinidad for Montreal and McGill University. He soon found himself working for International Harvester (Navistar). He loved to work and enjoyed working with trucks until his retirement. But in retirement he continued to be active with the Burlington Literacy Council teaching English and Math to adult students and with International's Retiree group solving the world's problems. The family wishes to thank Alexander Place i in Waterdown for the amazing care Ken received during his ten month stay.

The staff were wonderful to him and brought him joy each day. Patrick's family have been members of the Tadoussac summer community since the 1860s and he looked forward to his time at the cottage each summer where he would reconnect with his extended family and childhood friends on the beach, in long walks through the forest, and in humorous conversations over a cup of tea. Many cottagers still cherish the audio recordings he made for them many years ago which captured the sounds of the beach and long vanished fog horn duets. As a young adult. Patrick began a search for spiritual knowledge that led him to Kullu.

India, in the foothills of the Himalayas. There he began a lifelong relationship with guru Swami Shayam. Patrick remained a dedicated member of the International Meditation Institute for more than 40 years, where he was known as "Dadaji" He participated in meditation study with fellow Shayams in Ottawa and Montreal and supported members around the world through his eloquent letters, poems and journal blog. He impressed all who met him with his gentle and sensitive manner, his insight, knowledge, sharp wit, and humour. Patrick's family would like to thank the medical staff and caregivers at the Hematology and Palliative care units of the Royal Victoria Hospital who assisted Patrick in his final days.

They also wish to thank his many friends in Montreal's meditation community who regularly visited him during his last weeks in hospital. She leaves behind her mother Audrey Morrison (nee Squires) stepfather Irvin Morrison, sister Cathy brother Garry MacDonald McVey), son Derek Wallace (Bianca Bayer), and daughter Amy Wallace (Peter Grant). She also leaves behind the lights of her life, her five grandchildren, Liam, Sydney, Aidan, and Amelia. She was predeceased by her brother John McDonald and her father Ian MacDonald (sports reporter for the Gazette). Sandra was beloved by the Montreal West community where she lived and worked for her life.

She always had a big smile and encouraging words for everyone she met. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, September 11 from 5:30 9:30 p.m. at the Kensington Presbyterian Church, 6225 Avenue Godfrey, NDG.
