This is Golfer Geeks’ Titleist TSR3 Driver Review.

Summary: The TSR3 is a player’s driver that’s hittable by mediocre drivers (like me). It’s long with great sound and feel. It’s forgiving as is, but adjusting the movable sole weight helped me keep many more drives playable than I deserved. It’s not just for elite drivers.

How I Tested

I tested theTSR3 over the course of 3 months in the Fall and Winter of 2023. I used it during multiple rounds on the course and one dedicated range session on my launch monitor. I tested it alongside the TSR2. (My swing was so bad it took me this long to figure it out and test the TSR3 properly)

Performance Review of the TSR3

Looks:(A)Black on black with a classic head shape. Understated and elegant. A Titleist trademark.

Sound/ Feel: (A) Drive after drive felt solid, yet springy, and with the muted sound I prefer. Neck and neck with the Stealth 2 and Paradym.

Distance: (A) Plenty. Right alongside its premium competition.

Forgiveness: (B) Not as forgiving as the Stealth2 and Paradym series, but not bad.

Flight / Playability: (A) My drives had a consistently low to mid launch with a max height of 63ish feet. This may be a feature of the shaft. The blue RDX is a low launch low trajectory shaft.

Value: (A)~$599 – Right in line with new premium drivers.

Overview & Why Consider It

The TSR3 is a mid-launch low spin driver targeted to better golfers who consistently make solid contact off the tee. But, the adjustability helped keep this mediocre driver playable far more often than I deserved.

Why consider the TSR3: It’s got all the pop you expect in a premium driver and more forgiveness than you expect from a Titleist driver – at least more forgiveness than I expected.

Better drivers will appreciate its refined shot-shaping capabilities and feel.

My Experience with the TSR3

Range Sessions – 1 range session paired with the TSR2. And, a few times before rounds.
Rounds of golf – Many

Limits to my testing – I subjected the TSR3 (and TSR2) to my worst driving in a year and a half.

Banging drivers on the range has never been my strong suit. But, when my swing is going well, I generally piece together good driving rounds on the course.

This was not the case for this review. Now, I did hit good drives from time to time but it was difficult getting a good feel for the driver. That’s why my testing took sooooo long.

I finally hit the driving range last week determined to test this driver (and the TSR2) and test them well.

Well…

I went and did it. I started slooow. Hitting many irons to groove my swing. Then I switched to the drivers and hit solid drives with both of them.

Who is the TSR3 for?

Like Titleist says, the TSR3 is ideally suited golfers that consistently hit the sweet spot with their driver. But, I’m not all that consistent and movable sole weight helped me dial my drives closer to or in the fairway fairly consistently during my rounds.

Low handicaps: (Yup) The lower trajectory paired with increased control of ball flight should suit you well.
Mid handicaps: (Maybe) Your driver could be your strength and you want a little help dialing in shot shape.
High handicaps: (No) I think the TSR1 or TSR2 are better options.

Potential Alternatives

Final Verdict

Bottom line. I think the TSR best serves better drivers, but it’s worth considering for good ball striking mid handicaps as well as low handicaps.

The TSR3 has ample forgiveness, great sound and feel, and was within a yard or two of carry distance of the best premium drivers from the other major manufacturers I’ve tested.

My#1 suggestionis to get your hands on them before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage ofGlobal Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
