How do I check the status of my Section 8 application in NJ? ›

If your Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program pre-application was successfully submitted, you will receive an Application Receipt Page. (Please retain this Application Receipt Page for your records.) AFTER LOTTERY STATUS: Information will be posted at: Https://www.waitlistcheck.com after February 24, 2023.

Income Eligibility

There are two income limits which are used to determine eligibility for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and Moderate Rehabilitation Programs: Very Low Income limit: 50 percent of the area median income; and. Low-Income limit: 80 percent of the area median income.

To be eligible for Section 8 voucher housing: Your income must not be greater than a 50% of the area median income, which is determined by the area or county you live in. You must be a U.S. citizen or in a category of noncitizen who has eligible immigration status.
